tbs rebrand
This is an oldie and a fav of mine. When Conan O’brien arrived at TBS, their new tagline, “very funny”, needed a logo and on-air graphics. I worked closely with the branding agency Ferroconcrete and collaborated on over fifty different on-air promo assets.
Interpreting their existing half-circle logo as a smile, the idea was to personify and bring humor, life, and character. The two movies below showcase the breadth of work I wrote and directed with the assistance of a talented team of animators and 3d artists.
Through interaction with the talent themselves, the brand and network become a unified voice. Seamlessly merging this logo into the worlds of each show required dedicated shoots with Conan, the cast of Big Bang Theory, the cast of Everybody Hates Chris, and George Lopez. Additionally, the team and I scoured hours upon hours of The Office and The Family Guy for select clips to organically comp the smile into.
TBS saw a jump in the ratings and this project received the One Show award for motion graphics and network ID and FastCompany named the TBS rebrand as their Favorite Branding Project of 2011.
