Confuent chronicles

animated motion comic & extended reality experience

TL;DR

  • Motion comic expanding Confluent’s graphic novel universe

  • Mixed-reality tournament game built for live events

  • Scalable storytelling system designed to extend across events, campaigns, and digital platforms

Confluent wanted to rethink how highly technical products could be explained, experienced, and remembered. Rather than relying on traditional sales decks or product demonstrations, I helped build Confluent Chronicles, an anime-inspired narrative universe that transformed data architects and developers into heroes, and real infrastructure challenges into larger-than-life adversaries.

The foundation was original IP created at bully! entertainment, rooted in technical truth, giving us a world that could grow across multiple formats without losing its connection to the product. Graphic novels established the characters and lore. A motion comic brought the Data Streaming Tournament to life through animation and sound. And a mixed-reality game invited audiences to step directly into the story, turning complex product education into a competitive, shared experience.

Instead of simply explaining what Confluent does, we created a world audiences could experience for themselves. Confluent Chronicles was designed as more than a single campaign or activation. It was built as a connected creative system as one idea capable of expanding across formats, platforms, and live experiences. Complex technology became character-driven storytelling. Product education became entertainment. And passive audiences became active participants.

The result was a scalable piece of branded IP that gave Confluent a more memorable way to communicate sophisticated ideas and a creative platform that could continue growing long after the original experience ended.
