MLB digital collectables
At Candy Digital, the team and I concepted and produced a series of bespoke NFTs to commemorate numerous events, records, and notable athletes. Presented here are three special ones. Each model was built from scratch with enormous attention to the most subtle of details, original music compositions, and approvals from each organization.
lou geHrig
Candy’s first ever NFT their first officially licensed NFT, a one-of-one piece of history that commemorates Lou Gehrig’s “Luckiest Man” speech.
The digital collectible features video excerpts of the iconic speech and a three-dimensional bust of Gehrig in an iron finish, representing his legacy as baseball’s “Iron Horse.” The bust also includes authentic details, such as the Baseball Centennial patch on his uniform and the iconic bend of Gehrig’s hat.
Delivered on July 4, 1939, the speech was Gehrig’s formal farewell from the game after being diagnosed with ALS.
This collectable raised $77,400 when it was auctioned on the Fourth of July, 2021 which was the 82nd anniversary of Gehrig’s historic speech. All proceeds went to support ALS charities, including The Lou Gehrig Society, The Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Mass General and The ALS Association.
Jackie Robinson
Next, it was absolute honor to collaborate with the Jackie Robinson Foundation in releasing the first-ever NFT collectibles of Robinson to help commemorate the 75th anniversary of the former Brooklyn Dodgers star breaking Major League Baseball’s color barrier.
The gold version sold for $50,000 and on hundred silver tiered collectable sold out in minutes at $250 each. An open edition signature ball was sold as well which included Robinson’s digital signature. All proceeds from this collection went to the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
world series trophy
To commemorate the Atlanta Braves victory in the 2021 World Series, the team and I envisioned a short animation of the iconic Commissioner’s Trophy constructing itself.
